Reports are today suggesting that David Moyes has been out in Portugal scouting a number of players. The former Everton boss has been keeping his beady eye on Jackson Martinez, Guilherme Siquiera and Eliaquim Mangala, and it is the latter than I want to look at in this article.
So, who is he, and what can he offer?
The France international is a 23-year-old centre-half with a huge amount of power. His monstrous presence makes him an intimidating figure for opposing attackers and allows him to dominate when balls are coming into the box.
This season he has played 37 games for current club Porto this season and has scored five goals, which for a centre-back is pretty impressive.
On paper he seems the perfect fit for United, and in person he is even better. He can play the ball around the pitch like a central midfielder but has the ruthlessness needed to strip apart an opposition attack.
He has youth on his side, which is crucial for any potential United summer signing as Rio Ferdinand isn’t getting any younger.
In his short career he has claimed two Belgian Supercups, a Belgian Cup and the Pro League with former club Standard Liege, and two league titles with Porto, as well as two cups.
Get him in, Moyes.
