Atletico Madrid have won 27 of their 34 La Liga games this season, and have lost just three. Diego Simeone has structured a side that is currently four points clear of Barcelona and six of fierce rivals Real Madrid, as well as being in the semi-finals of the Champions League. This evening they are at home to Chelsea in the competition, and there are two players who Jose Mourinho’s men will be wary of.
The first I will mention is Koke, who has had an incredible season in the Atleti midfield. The Spaniard has 32 La Liga appearances this season and he has registered six goals, as well as 13 assists, which is more than any other player in the Spanish topflight.
The 22-year-old can play in a central position or down the flanks and is one of the most creative players in Europe. With Cesar Azpilicueta likely to be switched to right-back due to Branislav Ivanovic’s suspension, Koke could have a field day.
The other player I refer to is Diego Costa, obviously. The Brazilian born forward has scored 27 league goals this season and another seven in the Champions League, as well as claiming three assists.
Costa is a feisty player who will look to take the game to the Blues, and I think the London club may collapse under the pressure.
