Manchester United are currently without a manager, though Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal looks likely to take over in the summer when his side exit the World Cup. According to reports, he has earmarked two players to start his transfer activity at Old Trafford, both of whom ply their trade in the Bundesliga.
Toni Kroos and Marco Reus are the duo being scouted by the potential United boss, but where would they fit into the current Red Devils side?
First of all I will look at Kroos, as he is the player United are crying out for, in my opinion. He has the technique needed to dictate the tempo of the game from the middle, and his passing capacity matches that of Michael Carrick’s.
He is defensively-sound, but also loves to roam forward, and he is partial to a couple of goals per season. He would probably slot in next to Carrick in the central roles.
Reus is a more flexible player. He can function on either wing or just behind the frontman, and has 21 goals between the Bundesliga and the Champions League this season, as well as 14 assists.
The Germany international is a player who makes things happen, and I think he’d start on the left on the attack, with the likes of Juan Mata, Shinji Kagawa and Wayne Rooney moving around with him.
One thing is for sure, the pair would be huge acquisitions.
