Manchester United are in need of an overhaul this summer in order to succeed next season and regain some of the respect they lost in the campaign just gone. Here is how I would do it, or at least start to, if I was in charge.
The first player I would go for is Xavi, who has been reported with a move to Old Trafford. He really is a player that could win things for the club on his own, and I think he would solve the midfield problem that United blatantly have. For a few years, at least.
I would then seek a new left-back, but one that wouldn’t cost as much as Luke Shaw. The young England defender is always going to have an inflated price tag due to his nationality, and I think they are a few other candidates who would be better.
Ricardo Rodriguez for one. The Wolfsburg left-back is still only 21 and surpassed Shaw in every statistic this season, so I would look to get him snapped up before someone else inevitably does.
Lastly I would look to get rid of Tom Cleverely.
The midfielder is not what you need to help you climb up the table, nor is he young enough to still be considered a bright prospect. I would get rid.
This would be a start, but I think these are the main points that I would cover.
