Arsenal won their first piece of silverware in almost nine years yesterday, beating Hull in extra time to secure the FA Cup. Here are three things we learnt from the game.
1) Wenger CAN smile
The last nine years has been a miserable time for Arsenal and the manager himself, and he personally has taken some stick. Fans wanted his head, the press wanted his head and the combination of both looked to have a negative effect on him.
After the final whistle and up to the trophy being celebrated on the pitch, Wenger looked ecstatic and it was pleasing to see.
2) Ramsey’s importance
Ramsey’s fine start to the season had the Gunners looking down on the rest of the league but when he was injured everything fell to pieces. He had bundles on energy, knew what he needed to do and ultimately won them the trophy with a superb piece of skill.
3) Steve Bruce has got Hull ticking
No one expected Hull to go 2-0 up inside 10 minutes but they are a very organised side and didn’t look out of place. They really matched up against the Gunners for a lot of the game until the extra quality shone through.
