The Manchester United team is overdue a makeover and I think this summer we will begin to see the transformation. David Moyes failed miserably at Old Trafford and was given the boot and it will now be up to Louis van Gaal to clear up the mess. The first man on his shortlist, apparently, is a player he has worked closely with at international level – Kevin Strootman.
The Netherlands midfielder is currently plying his trade in Serie A with Roma but could be tempted to make the move due to his ties with van Gaal – his boss in the Netherlands senior side.
Strootman is exactly the sort of player that United need, in my opinion. He played just 25 Serie A games last season but had a huge impact on the way that the capital side operated. In that time he created six assists and scored six goals, but also managed to complete 88% of his passes.
He is still just 24 and would provide energy to an otherwise lacklustre United midfield and I think he would compliment Michael Carrick brilliantly.
For me, he would be the perfect signing.
