£15m Disaster: Why Chelsea Can’t Afford To Lose Ivanovic To Paris Saint Germain This Summer

According to reports, Paris Saint Germain are preparing a £15 million bid for Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic this summer. For me, the Blues must do everything they possibly can to keep hold of the Serbia international, and here’s why.

The first thing that is so impressive about Ivanovic is his ability to play either right-back or centre-back just as comfortably as one another.

He is now primarily a full-back but can fill in centrally whenever needed.

He is a strong player whose athleticism allows him to beat players down the wing and his combative style of play ties in nicely with those around him – John Terry and Gary Cahill are both notorious hard men.

He has the experience that £15 million would struggle to replace and he is adored by the fans. He was a quarter of the Premier League’s best defence last season and is integral to Jose Mourinho’s side, and if they were to lose him this summer, for such a small amount, I think it would be a disaster.
