Chelsea came close to securing the Premier League title last season but ultimately fell short in the final stages. Jose Mourinho’s return was trophy-less and in order to make sure that doesn’t happen again, the Blues are said to be ready to spend £81m to land Atletico Madrid trio Diego Costa, Diego Godin, and Felipe Luis. Let’s have a closer look at the three in question.
1) Diego Costa
The Spain international scored 27 goals in his 35 games last season and is exactly the player Chelsea need to fire them to the title. He is strong, good in the air and would slot in nicely next to the likes of Eden Hazard and Willian.
2) Diego Godin
The Uruguay international was one of the main reasons why Atletico won the league last season and would provide great support for what is already a strong defence.
He played 34 league games and 10 in the Champions League, and in that time he made 304 clearances.
3) Felipe Luis
The Brazilian left-back would be a superb addition as he was another one who established himself as one of the most effective defenders in the Spanish topflight. The 28-year-old made 131 tackles in just 32 league appearances last season.
