After such a dismal season under David Moyes, you’d think that there would be little chance of new boss Louis van Gaal singing the praises of the former Everton boss. Well, according to the Mirror, the Netherlands first team coach has apparently thanked him for the way he handled the injury of Robin van Persie – his star man at this summer’s World Cup.
Last season was a tough one for van Persie – not because of a lack of goals, but because he was sidelined for a lot of the campaign.
However, I think we will see the best of him next season under van Gaal. The World Cup will act as a warm up and allow him to get back into the swing of things before he is made the focal point of the United side.
Van Gaal knows that he needs to be the spearhead and I think Wayne Rooney may be out to prove a point. Should van Persie steer clear of injuries I think the added responsibility will see him thrive next season.
With a reinforced midfield behind him and the belief of his new manager, there will be no stopping van Persie next year.
