Manchester United’s midfield problems were plastered all over the internet last season as they fell from grace under the guidance of David Moyes. Tom Cleverley and Marouane Fellaini were the main culprits, in my opinion, but that could be put to rest next season with reports of Bastian Schweinsteiger making a move to the club for £20m.
He could be the perfect addition to the Old Trafford side.
The 29-year-old made 23 Bundesliga appearances last season and bossed the middle of the Bayern side, completing 90% of his passes. He averaged 85 passes per game, which is an extraordinary number, and claimed four assists.
He is aggressive off the ball and composed on it, and brings the best out of those playing around him. With him and Michael Carrick in the middle of the pitch, with perhaps Fellaini, Kagawa or Juan Mata just ahead, I think the Germany international would prove the perfect piece to the puzzle.
He made 40 tackles last season, 14 interceptions and 11 clearances. He is also a set-piece specialist and would offer van Gaal’s men a different option.
Yes or no, Manchester United fans?
