Misfits: SIX Manchester United Players That Should Be Offloaded This Summer

A new season means new players and new situations at clubs. Managers up and down the country are starting to look for potential recruitments, but also letting players leave in order to free up space and free the wage bill. The World Cup has taken some emphasis off this, but I have cast my eye over a couple of squads and decided who needs to be cut this summer. Starting with Manchester United, here are six players that should be offloaded this summer.

1) Ashley Young

He is weak, looks nervous when taking defenders on and his delivery leaves a lot to be desired. He has a decent strike on him and is relatively quick down the wing, but he struggles with his end product. Especially in the big games.

For me, he needs to be moved on.

2) Nani

In a similar situation to Young, Nani has failed to hold down a place at Old Trafford and I think his time is coming to an end. There was a huge amount of excitement when he joined the club but he has never lived up to that and his similarities to Cristiano Ronaldo in the way he plays has only worked against him.

3) Alex Buttner

Buttner filled in for Patrice Evra at times and looked out of place. He struggled to track opposition runs, was often caught out of position and was weak in the tackle.

4) Tom Cleverley

Another one that has failed to live up to expectations, Cleverley is a player that I think needs to make a move to fulfil even a little bit of his potential.

5) Javier Hernandez

He doesn’t get enough game time for my liking and I expect Louis van Gaal to implement a 4-3-3 formation next season, which leaves little room for the Mexico international.

6) Darren Fletcher

He has been a wonderful servant to United but I think he should be exceptionally grateful to the club for keeping him on. His best days are behind him, sadly.
