Manchester United‘s huge spending spree this summer has officially begun as the Red Devils have added Ander Herrera to their ranks in the past couple of days. Spending close to £30 million on him, they barely confirmed the signing before journalists all over the country picked up on the news that United had all but confirmed Luke Shaw for a fee also around the £30 million bracket. In terms of outgoings, not an awful lot has been reported since Nemanja Vidic’s departure.
However, Louis van Gaal looks set to sell a number of high-profile players that he has deemed surplus to requirements. Unfortunately for Nani, it seems like he is one of them. The Mirror are reporting that the Portuguese winger could be on his way out of the club after Arsenal joined Inter Milan and Juventus in the chase to sign him. The number of different avenues that Nani could pursue has turned his head as he admitted to a Portguese publication that he is evaluating his options.
In my opinion, he can go without causing United any problems. With Antonio Valenica signing a new contract recently, Nani is fading into the background at the club and he didn’t prove to anyone last season that he is good enough to stay. Some may argue that he wasn’t given much of chance as he was limited to just seven Premier League starts. In addition to this, he hasn’t had the best World Cup, despite scoring in Portugal’s 2-2 draw with the USA.
Nani is a talented player and he proved that with United. However, his form has been patchy for a few seasons now and the it is a wonder why he hasn’t been sold already. Used correctly, he can be great for most clubs in Europe and that is why Inter Milan, Arsenal and Juventus are all chasing him.
