Liverpool Forward May Benefit From Real Madrid Star’s Injury – Why The European Champions Could Target Sterling

At just 19 years of age, Raheem Sterling already finds himself playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.  Although Liverpool are not the footballing power they once were, the Merseyside giants are slowly awakening after coming incredibly close to winning a first Premier League title last season.

With Sterling recently returning from England’s disappointing World Cup campaign, the Reds will hope the experience of playing on such a global stage benefits the forward in the coming years at Anfield.  According to the Mirror, however, a massive move could be on the cards for the former QPR academy player.

Reports of star man Cristiano Ronaldo struggling with a long-term injury have led to Real Madrid considering adding to their attacking department, with this year’s Champions League winners believed to be keen on Liverpool’s teenage sensation.  It is suggested that Los Blancos are ready to pay over £25 million to get Sterling’s signature, with the Madrid club having an eye on the future as well as the present.

Having just enjoyed a consistent season in which he featured regularly and scored ten goals in all competitions, Sterling has proven his credentials in England’s top flight.  Whilst his youthfulness suggests the forward is still raw, it also makes him an attractive signing, as he has the ability to not only repeat but improve upon his performances.

Putting a price tag on Sterling is difficult at this stage, but negotiations will certainly be interesting if Real Madrid do come calling.
