Lukaku Considers His Chelsea Future – Why The Striker Must Go Where He Will Be Loved

He may not have made as many headlines as he would have liked at the World Cup, but Romelu Lukaku must now forget about Belgium for the time being and sort out his future at club level.  The striker’s Chelsea career is yet to really start, and there are rumours that his time at Stamford Bridge may be coming to an end.

According to Sky Sports, the 21-year-old is undecided on where he will be playing next season.  The forward, who spent last campaign on loan at Everton, has admitted that he has choices to make.  Having already scored 32 Premier League goals at such a young age, many pundits have backed Lukaku to become one of the best strikers in Europe in the future.  It is, therefore, somewhat surprising that Chelsea do not appear to value him that highly.

In monetary terms, it has been suggested that a figure of around £25 million is what it would take for a club to sign the big Belgian striker.  Although Roberto Martinez would surely love to have him permanently, the Toffees may struggle to come up with enough cash to buy the player who scored 15 league goals for them last season.  Atletico Madrid are also rumoured to be interested in Lukaku, and the success of the deal to sell Diego Costa to the Blues may make Chelsea willing to do business with them again.

Ultimately, though, Lukaku will just want to continue playing regularly.  If the gametime is not going to be available at Chelsea, the striker must find a club that will give it to him.
