Manchester United ready to spend £100m for top transfers

With under two weeks left for the summer transfer window to slam shut, Manchester United are now ready to spend £100m for top transfers according to reports from METRO.

The story claims that United’s new manager Louis van Gaal has told club chief executive Ed Woodward to give his all and bring Real Madrid winger Di Maria to the club in the wake of United’s 2-1 Premier League defeat to Swansea at Old Trafford in the 2014-15 League opener.

This certainly shows Van Gaal’s desperation to quickly change things before United might be handed another tough campaign in the season ahead.

Metro have cited Daily Mail claiming that Di Maria is Van Gaal’s top transfer priority, and are ready to offer a whopping £200,000-a-week for the Argentine. However the reputed Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Ancelotti has made it clear that he won’t sell the player. The manager claimed that Di Maria didn’t play in the UEFA Super Cup as he had just arrived on the 5th of August to join the Madrid camp.

While negotiations for Vidal are progressing at a snail’s pace, United are also interested to bring in Mehdi Benataia from Roma but the Red Devils haven’t been able to close the deal for the 27 year old Moroccan defender. . However Benatia’s future looks certainly away from the Italian capital. Earlier Barcelona and Bayern Munich were also interested but pulled off thabks to Roma’s astronomical asking price for the player.

As the game against Swansea clearly depicted, United had very little attacking threat which shows that the Old Trafford side need an inspiration lest they would have yet another tough season to endure like the one they had last term.

However one thing is clear, United are sure to sign players in the remaining days as they look to bolster the squad with Van Gaal admitting that he needs to sign players.
