Liverpool have completed the signing of Mario Balotelli in a £16m transfer deal from Italian giants AC Milan. The 24 year old has been brought in to fill in Luis Suarez’s void as the Uruguayan left Anfield to pursue his career in the greener pastures of Barvcelona. The Italian genius thus becomes Liverpool’s ninth summer signing on what completes Liverpool spending spree.
The controversial star will wear the number 45 shirt at Anfield. The transfer perhaps hints at the Reds manager Brendan Rodgers’ policy as it can be assumed that the Irishman will now play two striker up front to elad the Liverpool attack.
Balotelli joins Liverpool after one and half years with the Rossoneri where he scored 30 goals in 54 appearances. Moreover the striker also has vital experience of playing in the Premier League having earlier featuring for Manchester City, where he helped them to the title in 2012 after moving from Inter Milan.
Balotelli expressed his delight after the transfer saying, “Balotelli said: “I’m very happy. We’ve been talking about coming here and now I’m happy to be here.”
“Liverpool are one of the best teams here in England and the football is very good here. It’s a great team with young players, and that’s why I came here.”
