If reports from English media outlet METRO is to be believed, Arsenal are plotting an ambitious swoop to sign Barcelona winger Pedro Rodriguez in the January transfer window. The report states that the 27 year old has grown frustrated with limited opportunities under new manager Luis Enrique and despite Luis Suarez still serving his ban, the Spaniard isn’t sure of a starting eleven spot.
Moreover with young stars like Munir El Haddadi and Sandro Ramirez having blistering starts to the season, Pedro surprisingly finds himself way down the packing order suddenly at the Catalan club.
This throws huge speculations over Pedro’s future as Suarez’s return will surely mean that the former Liverpool forward will automatically partner Messi and Neymar up front for the Camp Nou side. However Pedro will be no short of potential suitors should he heads towards the exit at the Catalan club.
Spanish media outlet SPORT however claimed that Pedro is happy but his critics are growing. The player reportedly said, “Maybe I need a goal, but I am happy. I just want to work and be in the team. I’m competing with the best strikers in the world. I want to do my job and let Luis Enrique decide.”
Pedro would no doubt fit in perfectly at Arsenal should he make a move to the Emirates. Capable of playing on either wings and also the ability playing just off the main striker up front demonstrates his versatility, a key factor which has been lacking at the Gunners.
