3. Chelsea had a crazy ball player, sold for 50 million!
David Luiz in ideal situations would have been Cahill’s perfect partner. But the lad doesn’t defend. He is just too interested to attack and generate offensive moves from the back. He has technical abilities for a center back. But because he was such a careless defender, Chelsea sold him for a huge fee.
But Chelsea currently could do with someone like Luiz with a better mentality defensively. Mangala does that job for Man City. In fact even Kompany is similar. Such type of defenders don’t give up their defensive duties but still contribute greatly to offensive moves or counter attacks.
Conclusion:
Chelsea will need to find a solution to this fast. Maybe the team can play offensive football away from home as well, but Mourinho’s tactics suggest that Chelsea would mostly be conceding goals had it not been for this defensive approach. Playing Ivanovic or Zouma in place of an ageing Terry could be on the cards during the middle of the season.
