Cristiano Ronaldo has possibly shown a red card to rumours about his potential return to Manchester United after Real Madrid’s 5-1 win over Elche, claiming that his future is at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Ronaldo rumours are possibly the biggest transfer saga next to Cesc Fabregas’ a few years ago as every other week there are some headlines talking about the Portuguese superstar’s imminent return to Old Trafford. With Real Madrid getting off to a poor start to their La Liga campaign, rumours started to intensify over the past few weeks with several former players commenting on the situation.
On top of that, last week Louis van Gaal publicly claimed that Manchester United are interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo, telling reports that a deal “is possible”. Even Ronaldo had previously given out statements about a possible return,
“Everyone knows that — I have said it many times. Manchester is in my heart. I left many good friends there, the supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day.”
However, the Ballon d’or winner poured cold waters over the whole issue and distanced himself from the Real Madrid exit rumors last night after scoring four goals against Elche to help his side get back into the top four.

“It’s nothing important, what’s important is Madrid. On a personal level, things are going well and I want to help this shirt.  I don’t see a need to talk about things outside the club.

“It’s all speculation, speaking about my future….My future is Madrid.  I’m happy.  The season is going well and I’m not talking about my future, it doesn’t make sense.”

And to conclude, there are fresh reports from the British Media claiming that Manchester United will pull the plug over Ronaldo’s pursuit as it may affect their existing stars. The Red Devils broke the country’s transfer record by signing Argetine Super star Angel Di Maria this summer adding to their impressive attacking armoury while also playing hosts to Radamel Falcao, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie. The Independent reports that the claims of United paying Ronaldo incredibly high wages to return is said to be having an unsettling effect.
