Chelsea expected line up against Bolton
Chelsea host Bolton in the midweek Capital One Cup fixture. They are without a win in two matches as they drew against Schalke and Man City. Chelsea would want to get their win and their momentum back, especially as they’ve got off to a great start to the season and they are also playing at home. This game could see some of Chelsea’s substitutes feature as we would be able to get a peek at their game finally.
Goalkeeper: Cech
It has been quite a while since he started. He is expected to start this game, mostly as Captain. He’ll have a chance to impress Mourinho once again, as he has found another top keeper in Courtois as the competitor.
Right Back: Azpilicueta
Ivanovic has played all games till now and could be rested. Azpilicueta should get a chance in his favoured RB position. He didn’t play in the Champions League so he is still comparatively fresh.
Center Back: Cahill
He is expected to start against his former club, whom he left 2 and a half years ago. Cahill is the mainstay in Chelsea’s defence and would be expected to take the leadership of the back four.
Center Back: Zouma
The youngster is likely to be given a chance especially as Mourinho has to rest skipper Terry. Zouma has a chance to impress. If he does well, he may well make it into Mourinho’s first team.
Left Back: Luis
Filipe Luis is a top left back but has started the season as a substitute for Azpilicueta. He’s definitely starting at Left Back position and he can fight for the first choice spot. He’s more attack minded and a natural left back.
Central Midfield: Mikel
He is likely to start instead of Fabregas. Mikel has been a good squad player for Chelsea. He’ll get his chance against Bolton where he can play a full game. Also, Ramires is injured, which increases his chances of selection.
Central Midfield: Matic
Matic is the only one who’ll be left to start. Fabregas is definitely going to be rested. There is high possibility that Mourinho would substitute him for young Nathan Ake or Louis Baker if needed.
Central Attacking Midfield: Oscar
He hasn’t started the past two games and is likely to get a nod in this match. He’s going to be the main attacker for Chelsea in this match and he will have to dictate the play.
Left Midfield: Schürrle
He came off the bench and scored against Man City. He’s likely to start against Bolton. He is a lethal shooter and Chelsea could get goals from him if they serve him well. His link up with Oscar would be very important.
Right Midfield: Salah
Mohamed Salah hasn’t played a game this season and has been on the bench for quite a while. He’d love to shine against Bolton and impress Mourinho. His pace would be vital down the flanks.
Striker: Drogba
Drogba is likely to start this game in a bid to regain fitness. Bolton would be the ideal team for the big African to test himself. He has been really slow and unfit, some crucial game time against Schalke and Man City have put him back on track after he was out injured. He’s likely to be subbed by Remy as Costa isn’t featuring in this match.
