If reports from English Tabloid Daily Star are set to be believed, then German forward Lukas Podolski is willing to leave Arsenal in the near future. The report claims that a lack of playing opportunities has given rise to the current situation and the player himself has not ruled out a move away from North London. This season Podolski has only featured for 25 minutes of Premier League football and has made four substitue appearances for the Gunners.
There are also claims that the 29 year old in an interview with German television station RTL has expressed his frustration for not playing enough. He has also revealed that he could leave the Emirates. Podolski claimed, “I am a full blooded player, a street player and I love competition. If I don’t have this competition every weekend then a change must occur.”
“We will have to see. But it is certainly something one has to think about.”
Podolski has a contract with Arsenal till the summer of 2016 but was earlier linked with Italian sides Napoli and reigning Champions Juventus but moves stalled as deals failed to materialize. The player joined Arsenal in 2012 and was touted for greater things. He came with a huge reputation having scored 47 goals for Germany in 118 internationals.
The winger cum forward featured for 90 minuted only in the Capital One Cup where Arsenal were beaten 2-1 at home defeat against Southampton last week. Podolski has so far hit the back of the net 28 times in 73 appearances for the Gunners.
In the World Cup too, he made only two appearances for Germany playing for the last eight minutes against Portugal and the first half of their last group game against the USA. H e was an unused substitute in the final against Argentina.
Podolski also claimed, “I have been with Germany a long time and have gone through phases where I did not play a lot at club level but was convincing with the national team. That is no problem.”
