According to The Guardian, Arsenal’s German forward Lukas Podolski has arrived in Italy to complete his loan move to Italian Giants Internazionale.

The 29-year-old was pictured arriving at Linate airport in Milan last evening, where he was greeted by a large number of Inter Milan fans. Lukas Podolski, who was not a part of Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Southampton on New Year’s day due to injury, posed for photos with Inter Milan supporters wearing a blue and black scarf (which resembles Inter’s home kit).

It is understood that Lukas Podolski have passed the medical earlier on Saturday and has signed a loan deal, which will keep him at the San Siro until the end of the season. It is also believed that Inter Milan is all set to have an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

While speaking on Inter Milan’s interest in Lukas Podolski, Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger said: “The first proposal was farcical; after, they came back a bit more serious. We will see what happens. Inevitable? Not in the transfer market. It’s very difficult to say, but we’ll see,” just few days after he described “a joke”.

Lukas Podolski says he is Happy

Speaking to Sky Italia, Lukas Podolski said: “I spoke to Mancini and think he’s a great coach. He wanted me and I’m happy to be here. I know Serie A, it’s a very competitive League. I want to help the team get into the Champions League. Do I have a message for the fans? I am happy, Forza Inter and we hope to have a great season.”

Lukas Podolski has featured in only thirteen of the Arsenal’s games this season and managed to score three goals in those limited time. Podolski has been doing well in Europe this season and that is why Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini is hoping Lukas Podolski to complete his move in time to feature in Tuesday’s Serie A visit to Juventus.

The report claims that he arrived at the clinic at 8 AM local time and the check up was complete under 2 hours at 9:45 AM. With Podolski leaving Arsenal to join Inter on a six month loan deal, Arsenal could well be boosting their attacking strengths by the time the January transfer window slams shut.

There is no doubt that Podolski’s arrival will be a massive boost for Inter who are currently struggling in the Serie A and are desperate to return to Champions League action as quickly as possible.

Arsenal All Set To Do First Transfer Business In The January Window

Lukas Podolski

Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski is all set to make a loan move to Serie A side Inter Milan after the two clubs have agreed on a move for the German International.

Inter will have to pay a fee of €3m for Podolski, but that could be reduced to half with a clause for a mandatory purchase. The fee of the purchase is set in between €6m-7m.

Last week, reports had emerged that the former Bayern Munich man had agreed personal terms with Inter and it was only a matter of time before the deal could be concluded.

Turkish side Galatasaray tried to contact the German over a potential move there, but Podolski himself revealed that talks with Galatasaray happened a long time ago. He was quoted as telling the Turkish Press today, “I was informed about Galatasaray’s offer.

“But that was a long time ago. Now I’m an Arsenal player, but in January I will make the best decision for myself.”

Since joining Arsenal for a fee of €12m in the summer of 2012, Podolski has made just 82 appearances for his club and has managed to score 31 goals. Despite being a bit part player for Arsenal in the last few seasons, he made the German World Cup squad and won a winners medal in the end. At 29, Podolski still has a few years of top level football left in him, but he’ll have to move if he wants regular game time. With Theo Walcott set to return, Podolski’s chances of getting into the first team diminishes even more as Arsenal already have Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck vying for the striker’s role in the team.

Inter have also identified PSG attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi as a potential target if by any chance the Podolski deals does not happen.

A move was always on the cards as the German had grown disillusioned with the amount of game time he was receiving at Arsenal this season and he had indirectly revealed on more than one occasion that he will move if the situation doesn’t change soon.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Podolski will mostly join Inter on a loan deal in the upcoming January transfer window and the Italian side will have the option of signing him permanently in the summer. The transfer is progressing as Podolski has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Inter.

Podolski has been used very sparingly this season; he has appeared 13 times and most of them have been from the bench as he has a total of 327 minutes of game time under his belt. He has scored three times for the Gunners this season and all of them have come in the UEFA Champions League.

He will have a good chance of playing regularly at Inter as Mauro Icardi and Pablo Osvaldo will be his only competitions in the team.

Arsenal attacker wants more game time else he could leave

Arsenal attacker Lukas Podolski has revealed that he could consider leaving the club in January if he is continued to be overlooked by Arsene Wenger.

The Germany international has made just four substitute appearances in the league so far and revealed, “I’ve spent the last four months making brief appearances. I’ve had to wrap myself up warm in my winter coat with my hat and scarf on to watch the others playing.

“I would rather show Arsenal what I am capable if, but this chance to show what I can do is not being given to me.

“I want to play football for many years to come so am I meant just to say everything’s fine and sit my contract out?’” Regarding where his destination might be, he said “Anything is possible nowadays. You can’t rule anything out.”

The former Koln man is being linked with a move to the Serie A with Juventus and Fiorentina being keen admirers. A return back to his homeland could be a possibility too as his contract expires in 2016. Despite being used sparingly by Arsenal, Podolski hasn’t lost his spot in the German national setup. With the Euros coming in a few years time, Podolski will want to play more often to give one last go for Die Mannschaft.

He was being linked with a possible £10m move to rivals Spurs come January, but he went on to dismiss the speculation by tweeting that “He’ll will freeze over before this transfer would happen.”

The 29-year old has made a total of 77 appearances for Arsenal since joining in 2012 for €12m and has scored 29 goals in the process. He was a regular starter for the club after joining but has become a bit-part player in the last one year or so as Wenger has preferred the likes of Santi Cazorla, Danny Welbeck and Alex-Oxlad Chamberlain over the German.

Arsenal January Transfers: One German In, One German Out

According to the latest reports, Arsenal are preparing a sensational £32 million bid for Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels.

Even though Arsenal already have  Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker as their main Central defenders, Wenger wants to strengthen the defense even further by adding Mats Hummels to the squad.

Mats Hummels has repeatedly insisted that  he wants to stay with Dortmund but recently, he admitted he may move to a club that plays a good brand of football.

Hummels said,

“If a club with a bigger reputation than Dortmund were to make a move, but I don’t like the way they play football, I wouldn’t even consider a move”

Arsenal will not have a slightest issue here as they are known for their beautiful one touch football. Arsenal are already building a good German base at Emirates with the likes of Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil playing their trade and good youngsters like Serge Gnabry and  Gedion Zelalem making a name for themselves at youth level. So, if this move happens, Hummels will have less troubles in settling down in a foreign league. Win-Win situation for both the player and the club.

While one German international is linked with a move to Emirates, another German is most likely to leave the North London club after openly admitting that he is unhappy at the club. We are talking about Lukas Podolski here.

After getting frustrated with lack of proper game-time, the Former FC Cologne star said,

“I have assessed my position in the team, and it has to change now,”

“Let’s see what happens in the winter. The fact is that I’m not happy with it, that’s clear.”

Arsenal player set to leave club; January transfer possible

If reports from English Tabloid Daily Star are set to be believed, then German forward Lukas Podolski is willing to leave Arsenal in the near future. The report claims that a lack of playing opportunities has given rise to the current situation and the player himself has not ruled out a move away from North London. This season Podolski has only featured for 25 minutes of Premier League football and has made four substitue appearances for the Gunners.

There are also claims that the 29 year old in an interview with German television station RTL has expressed his frustration for not playing enough. He has also revealed that he could leave the Emirates. Podolski claimed, “I am a full blooded player, a street player and I love competition. If I don’t have this competition every weekend then a change must occur.”

“We will have to see. But it is certainly something one has to think about.”

Podolski has a contract with Arsenal till the summer of 2016 but was earlier linked with Italian sides Napoli and reigning Champions Juventus but moves stalled as deals failed to materialize. The player joined Arsenal in 2012 and was touted for greater things. He came with a huge reputation having scored 47 goals for Germany in 118 internationals.

The winger cum forward featured for 90 minuted only in the Capital One Cup where Arsenal were beaten 2-1 at home defeat against Southampton last week. Podolski has so far hit the back of the net 28 times in 73 appearances for the Gunners.

In the World Cup too, he made only two appearances for Germany playing for the last eight minutes against Portugal and the first half of their last group game against the USA. H e was an unused substitute in the final against Argentina.

Podolski also claimed, “I have been with Germany a long time and have gone through phases where I did not play a lot at club level but was convincing with the national team. That is no problem.”
