Transfer Battle: Chelsea And Liverpool Set To Go Face-to-Face For This £26m Argentine Star’s Signature

The Premier League’s top sides Chelsea and Liverpool are once again face to face in the hunt for yet another striker and this time in the news is Inter Milan’s Argentine superstar striker Mauro Icardi. The 21 year old Icardi has been on top of his game this season and has impressed, despite a struggling Inter Milan side, who have fallen to ninth place in the Serie A table. The Argentine hitman has a tally of 10 goals in 28 league appearances and his performances has caught the attention of several clubs all across Europe. According to the reports, Chelsea and Liverpool are hoping to make a deal for the youngster and acquire his services, for a long term, as he is a bright prospect for the future.

Both clubs have shown interest in the front man and are considering a move, though Inter’s initial price of £26million was considered by them as quite high. Liverpool who are facing problems finding the right combination up front, are still hoping he accepts a move to Anfield, to solve the problems they have been facing up front. On the other hand, one of the main reasons that Chelsea are desperate to bring the forward to Stamford Bridge too, would be the retirement of their superstar striker Didier Drogba at the end of this season. Chelsea are at the moment leading the League table and are five points clear of second place Manchester City, whereas Liverpool are positioned at eighth spot.

The Italian giants are themselves also set to open talks with the sensational striker and will offer him a new contract, in attempt to ward off interest from any potential buyers. What happens next as these European giants prepare  to make a bid, remains to be seen, as talks for the Argentine’s signature shall take place over the next few weeks.

Arsenal Star Lukas Podolski Set To Make His Debut Against Juventus

According to The Guardian, Arsenal’s German forward Lukas Podolski has arrived in Italy to complete his loan move to Italian Giants Internazionale.

The 29-year-old was pictured arriving at Linate airport in Milan last evening, where he was greeted by a large number of Inter Milan fans. Lukas Podolski, who was not a part of Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Southampton on New Year’s day due to injury, posed for photos with Inter Milan supporters wearing a blue and black scarf (which resembles Inter’s home kit).

It is understood that Lukas Podolski have passed the medical earlier on Saturday and has signed a loan deal, which will keep him at the San Siro until the end of the season. It is also believed that Inter Milan is all set to have an option to make the deal permanent in the summer.

While speaking on Inter Milan’s interest in Lukas Podolski, Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger said: “The first proposal was farcical; after, they came back a bit more serious. We will see what happens. Inevitable? Not in the transfer market. It’s very difficult to say, but we’ll see,” just few days after he described “a joke”.

Lukas Podolski says he is Happy

Speaking to Sky Italia, Lukas Podolski said: “I spoke to Mancini and think he’s a great coach. He wanted me and I’m happy to be here. I know Serie A, it’s a very competitive League. I want to help the team get into the Champions League. Do I have a message for the fans? I am happy, Forza Inter and we hope to have a great season.”

Lukas Podolski has featured in only thirteen of the Arsenal’s games this season and managed to score three goals in those limited time. Podolski has been doing well in Europe this season and that is why Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini is hoping Lukas Podolski to complete his move in time to feature in Tuesday’s Serie A visit to Juventus.

The ever reliable Gianluca Di Marzio  website have reported just a while ago that Lukas Podolski has completed his medical for Inter Milan and very soon the official announcement is set to be made. The 29 year old German who was frustrated about the lack of gametime at Arsenal will now have the chance to team up with Roberto Mancini for the San Siro side to push them for a Champions League berth next season. The report claims that he arrived at the clinic at 8 AM local time and the check up was complete under 2 hours at 9:45 AM. With Podolski leaving Arsenal to join Inter on a six month loan deal, Arsenal could well be boosting their attacking strengths by the time the January transfer window slams shut.

There is no doubt that Podolski’s arrival will be a massive boost for Inter who are currently struggling in the Serie A and are desperate to return to Champions League action as quickly as possible.

Arsenal Could Help Liverpool Seal £8m Deal For Attacker

Ezequiel Lavezzi

Liverpool are reportedly interested in Paris Saint-Germain winger Ezequiel Lavezzi as the Argentinian is unsettled in the French Capital.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed that the 29-year old has apparently turned down a contract extension which has attracted interest from Inter Milan and Liverpool. However, the fleet-footed attacker is keen on the idea of playing in the Premier League after already having played in the Serie A with Napoli a few years ago. Lavezzi had a five year spell with Napoli after brief stay with Genoa.

He isn’t a first choice in the playing XI as manager Laurent Blanc has preferred the attacking trio of Edinson Cavani, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Lucas Moura. Lavezzi has made 18 appearances for PSG this season in all competitions, but has completed just two of those games which has made him somewhat unsettled at the club.

Although Inter are interested in acquiring Lavezzi, a potential deal could be scuppered if Lukas Podolski makes the switch there first as Arsenal are willing to ship the German on loan. With that, Liverpool’s door will be clearer and it is believed that a fee of £8m will be enough for PSG to part ways with Lavezzi even though they paid a hefty fee of €28.9million for him back in the summer of 2012.

Liverpool have had a poor first half in the current season and could strengthen come January if they find good and cheap players. Lavezzi at £8m would definitely be a steal for the reds who haven’t had the best of times in the transfer market after clearly overspending on the quality of players they have brought in. With Adam lallana and Lazar Markovic putting in inconsistent displays and Raheem Sterling being deployed as a striker more recently, Lavezzi could be a good signing for the Liverpool.

Lavezzi’s work ethic and pace will also be an added merit as Liverpool are set up in a way that demands their attacking players to do a lot of pressing.

Arsenal All Set To Do First Transfer Business In The January Window

Lukas Podolski

Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski is all set to make a loan move to Serie A side Inter Milan after the two clubs have agreed on a move for the German International.

Inter will have to pay a fee of €3m for Podolski, but that could be reduced to half with a clause for a mandatory purchase. The fee of the purchase is set in between €6m-7m.

Last week, reports had emerged that the former Bayern Munich man had agreed personal terms with Inter and it was only a matter of time before the deal could be concluded.

Turkish side Galatasaray tried to contact the German over a potential move there, but Podolski himself revealed that talks with Galatasaray happened a long time ago. He was quoted as telling the Turkish Press today, “I was informed about Galatasaray’s offer.

“But that was a long time ago. Now I’m an Arsenal player, but in January I will make the best decision for myself.”

Since joining Arsenal for a fee of €12m in the summer of 2012, Podolski has made just 82 appearances for his club and has managed to score 31 goals. Despite being a bit part player for Arsenal in the last few seasons, he made the German World Cup squad and won a winners medal in the end. At 29, Podolski still has a few years of top level football left in him, but he’ll have to move if he wants regular game time. With Theo Walcott set to return, Podolski’s chances of getting into the first team diminishes even more as Arsenal already have Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck vying for the striker’s role in the team.

Inter have also identified PSG attacker Ezequiel Lavezzi as a potential target if by any chance the Podolski deals does not happen.

January Transfer – Disillusioned German Star Set For Arsenal Exit

Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski is set to make the switch to Serie A with Inter Milan looking as the likely destination.

A move was always on the cards as the German had grown disillusioned with the amount of game time he was receiving at Arsenal this season and he had indirectly revealed on more than one occasion that he will move if the situation doesn’t change soon.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Podolski will mostly join Inter on a loan deal in the upcoming January transfer window and the Italian side will have the option of signing him permanently in the summer. The transfer is progressing as Podolski has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Inter.

Podolski has been used very sparingly this season; he has appeared 13 times and most of them have been from the bench as he has a total of 327 minutes of game time under his belt. He has scored three times for the Gunners this season and all of them have come in the UEFA Champions League.

He will have a good chance of playing regularly at Inter as Mauro Icardi and Pablo Osvaldo will be his only competitions in the team.

Liverpool star set for January transfer?

It appears as if Lucas Leiva is set for a transfer move away from Liverpool in the upcoming January transfer window. ESPN have published an article claiming that Inter Milan coach Roberto Mancini has admitted an interest in the Brazilian and wants to sign him in the upcoming transfer market.

The Nerazzurri are currently 11th in Serie A and are looking to make the necessary additions during the January transfer window to secure a Champions League spot at the end of the season. Mancini said, “Lucas Leiva is a great player, but he belongs to Liverpool and it’s going to be hard to get him. He would be useful, though, as he could help our younger players grow.”

Despite his latest exploits, Lucas has been overlooked by manager Brendan Rodgers and has fallen way down the pecking order at the Anfield side. He was linked with Napoli in the summer but somehow stayed at Liverpool despite the strong interest. A move to Inter Milan would indeed be a great move personally for Lucas as he would get enough game time at the time of a career in which he needs to play more rather than warm the sidelines.

Mancini also called for patience saying he needs time to change Inter and it wouldn’t happen overnight. “We know that we need to improve and we also knew that we would make mistakes along the way,” he added. “You cannot become Barcelona or Bayern Munich in a month. It takes time.”

Defender’s Agent Talks About Manchester United Move After Recent Rumours

Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has been linked with a possible return to Old Trafford in recent week, however, his agent went on to quash the reports by saying that he will honour his contract with Inter Milan.

Silvano Martina, Vidic’s agent, said, “Yes, he’s already training with the Red Devils!

“It’s all just stories. Vidic has a three-year deal with Inter and he’s not moving from Milan. There’s almost no point in commenting the nonsense being spread and I don’t even see for what reason the lad would be accosted to other teams.

“There’s been little respect for the player I represent, not by Inter, but by the press. As soon as the Nerazzurri got a couple of games wrong, the press didn’t think twice before attacking Vidic, pointing fingers at him as the only one worthy of blame.

“I’ll say this again – he’s not moving from Inter.”

Vidic made the switch from Manchester United to Inter this summer on a free transfer and hasn’t been at his best. His side languish in the 12th spot having picked up just 17 points from their 14 games in the league. The Serbian is yet to forge a good partnership with usual first choice Andrea Ranocchia and after disappointing under recently sacked manager Walter Mazzari, he has subsequently lost his place to center back Juan Jesus.

It is yet to be seen whether or not newly appointed manager Roberto Mancini will want Vidic at the club as a squad overhaul is very likely to come in January or next summer as the Nerrazzuri have struggled in the last few years due to an ageing squad. Since the departure of Jose Mourinho, they have managed to win just one trophy that came under Rafael Benitez.

United have returned to form off late but are yet to put a convincing defensive performance. As a result, rumours emerged that they could go after Vidic to bring back the stability that was present during the Sir Alex Ferguson days.
