Transfer Battle: Chelsea And Liverpool Set To Go Face-to-Face For This £26m Argentine Star’s Signature

The Premier League’s top sides Chelsea and Liverpool are once again face to face in the hunt for yet another striker and this time in the news is Inter Milan’s Argentine superstar striker Mauro Icardi. The 21 year old Icardi has been on top of his game this season and has impressed, despite a struggling Inter Milan side, who have fallen to ninth place in the Serie A table. The Argentine hitman has a tally of 10 goals in 28 league appearances and his performances has caught the attention of several clubs all across Europe. According to the reports, Chelsea and Liverpool are hoping to make a deal for the youngster and acquire his services, for a long term, as he is a bright prospect for the future.

Both clubs have shown interest in the front man and are considering a move, though Inter’s initial price of £26million was considered by them as quite high. Liverpool who are facing problems finding the right combination up front, are still hoping he accepts a move to Anfield, to solve the problems they have been facing up front. On the other hand, one of the main reasons that Chelsea are desperate to bring the forward to Stamford Bridge too, would be the retirement of their superstar striker Didier Drogba at the end of this season. Chelsea are at the moment leading the League table and are five points clear of second place Manchester City, whereas Liverpool are positioned at eighth spot.

The Italian giants are themselves also set to open talks with the sensational striker and will offer him a new contract, in attempt to ward off interest from any potential buyers. What happens next as these European giants prepare  to make a bid, remains to be seen, as talks for the Argentine’s signature shall take place over the next few weeks.
