Long Term Liverpool Target’s Agent Talks About His Client’s Future

Hamsik

Liverpool target Marek Hamsik is set to stay at Napoli after his agent revealed that the Slovakian international is happy in Italy. Juraj Venglos, Hamsik’s agent, told Sky Sport Italia, “Marek can be sold when the club decides this.

“But as long as he is comfortable at Napoli, he will not take into consideration anything and he does not care of the interest of Liverpool or any other club.

“If the club then decided he was to be sold, then the message would change, but Marek is currently happy in Naples,” he added.

The 27-year old has endured a sticky spell at Napoli in the last one year that has led to rumours that the club might sell him if the right offer comes in. However, it’s unlikely that Rafael Benitez will sell a player of his quality very easily. Benitez compared Hamsik to Steven Gerrard not so long ago. Hamsik is known for his brilliant passing and skills on the ball, but his form has deserted him off late that has seen him provide just one assist in four Serie A games.

When in form, the former Brescia man is a treat to watch as he can split open defences with his passing, an ideal player for Liverpool who are being linked with him. Brendan Rodgers’ side have failed to break open defences in the absence of Luis Suarez and lie 14th in the League. The cohesiveness and fluidity that was present last season seems to have disappeared mainly due to the signing of a host of new players. Hamsik could be a solution to Liverpool’s problems if they manage to snap him from Napoli.

Hamsik joined Napoli from Brescia in the summer of 2007 for close to €5.5m and has been a key player for them ever since. His best period came under former manager Walter Mazzarri whose style of football was entertaining to watch. Hamsik is still only 27 years of age and his peak years might still be ahead of him.
