Well, this has to be the most laughable transfer rumour that you would hear in a long long time. According to reports in the DAILY EXPRESS, Chelsea have been linked with a sensational £48m move for Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling. While the transfer isn’t likely to happen any time on the future and having a probability of one in a million, we take a look on why the links have come to surface.
The 19 year old’s rise from the lowest ebbs to Liverpool’s best player at the moment have captured the imagination of the Football fraternity. Sterling who started on the wings has looked very confident playing in Brendan Rodger’s 4-3-3 diamond, at the top of the midfield behind the two strikers up front.
Sterling is also currently negotiating a contract extension with the Reds but it is believed that the two parties are far from reaching an agreement. The report claims that Liverpool are believed to be offering Sterling a five-year-deal with wages around £100,000-per-week. However the Anfield outfit are also aware of the situation that Sterling is being closely monitored by European heavyweights Real Madrid and Paris St-Germain. Chelsea have thus thrown their hat in the ring to see whether they can have a foot behind the closed doors.
Jose Mourinho is also keen to bring some of the brightest English talents to Stamford Bridge next summer. The Portuguese manager has been keeping tabs alongside Manchester City on Everton star and young midfielder Ross Barkley as he looks to build a dynasty in west London.
