Thibaut Courtois – 7/10
Couldn’t do much about the opener but was authoritative and confident for the rest of the game. One of the best young keepers around.
Branislav Ivanovic – 8/10
Arguably the most complete full-back in this division. Another gem of a performance against the tricky Sterling.
John Terry – 8/10
Facing up to the erratic Balotelli, the Chelsea skipper looked at ease throughout the game.
Gary Cahill – 6/10
Looked out of sorts against Liverpool. Lucky to get away with the penalty claims.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7/10
Struggled against Coutinho early on but worked his socks off and set up the winner for Costa.
Eden Hazard – 8/10
A magician with the ball at his feet, ran Johnson ragged all game.
Nemanja Matic – 7/10
Doesn’t possess the play making skills of Fabregas but breaks up play and shields the defence better than most in the league.
Cesc Fabregas – 6/10
Far from his best, the Spaniard couldn’t influence the game as he would have liked.
Ramires – 6.5/10
Started the game to snuff out Liverpool attacks but became redundant as the game passed. Replaced by Willian in the second half.
Oscar – 6.5/10
Struggled initially to the physicality of Henderson and Can but stood up to the physical challenge and finished strongly.
Diego Costa – 7/10
The natural successor to Drogba and it felt the best way to stop him was to entice a red card. Another game another goal.
