Manchester United & City Set To Fight For £10m Rated French Defender

Manchester United and Manchester City are set to compete with each other for AC Milan defender Adil Rami according to reports in Italy. Th 28-year old has been the mainstay of the team at the back and has attracted a lot of interest after his impressive performances in the last few month for Milan.

Since moving from Valencia in January this year, the French international has resurrected his career and is close to a starting berth for his national side. The defender is being valued at somewhere around £8m to £10m as he is contracted with the club until 2017.

Manchester United have struggled so far in the season with their defence being the biggest cause for concern. Injuries too have taken their toll as the likes of Phil Jones, Rafael and Jonny Evans have missed quite a lot of game time. The backline has lacked a leader and Rami can definitely add that if signed.

Meanwhile United’s noisy neighbors Manchester City have had different problems. Despite having the squad depth, they have failed to find the right partner for Vincent Kompany. Manager Manuel Pellegrini has Martin Demichelis and Elaquim Mangala at his disposal, but neither have impressed when partnered alongside Kompany in defense.

Rami is 28 and is at the peak of his powers in a struggling Milan team and could jump the ship if either of the Manchester clubs makes an offer that is too good to be turned down. Rami hasn’t gotten into the French 1st team yet which could change if he impresses in the Premier League just like his competitors Laurent Koscielny and Mamadou Sakho. With the Euros happening in a couple of years time, the former Valencia man will want to make get into the team to play in front of his home crowd come 2016.
