Manchester United have received a huge injury boost ahead of their game against Arsenal as manager Louis Van Gaal has revealed that Angel Di Maria, David De Gea and Micheal Carrick are set to feature in the game.
Van Gaal said in a press conference “It’s difficult to say if anyone is back because we have to wait for Friday’s training session to decide if they’re back.
“But they’re not coming back in the squad – that’s a different thing. My philosophy is that you have to train at least one week with the squad, better two. But if you see our circumstances, we may be have to bring players back to the squad.
“Di Maria has trained today normally so I don’t think that is a question mark, but Shaw is. De Gea is good, no problem. I think I have to wait for the reaction in training with Carrick, but I also expect he’s ready to play.”
There were question marks on Luke Shaw’s availability after he had to be taken off in England’s 3-1 win over Scotland a few days ago. The left back was subbed in the 66th minute after complaining about a tight hamstring.
The squad is set to train on Friday before their clash against Arsenal which will tell us more on whether Shaw will be fit in time for the clash or not. United will be without Marcos Rojo who is yet to recover from his shoulder injury. Phil Jones and Rafael have not returned to training yet, which means that Van Gaal will have a big headache in setting up his defence against Arsenal. There was some positive news as Jonny Evans could return in the side’s reserve game against Blackburn on Tuesday.

Blind’s injury not as bad as thought, but he could miss a considerable amount of time
Van Gaal also confirmed that Daley Blind will not feature in the game on Saturday and could miss a few weeks due his knee injury. The club tweeted that he could miss six months of action despite Van Gaal revealing that he doesn’t think it’ll be that long, “Blind is not ready to play. He has now a brace on his knee, 10 days’ rest, then we have to make another scan and we can say more about his injury. It’s not so bad as the doctors are thinking after the match, but it shall be a long story, I believe, but not six months or something.” Falcao’s return has been further delayed as Van Gaal revealed that he has suffered from a ‘new injury’.
