Cristiano Ronaldo will not return to Manchester United, Says Angel Di Maria

Manchester United attacker Angel Di Maria has revealed that his former teammate and former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford is highly unlikely.

Ronaldo’s potential return to Manchester United has been well documented by the media despite his agent Jorge Mendes stating that his client will finish his career at Real Madrid.

Now, United’s record summer signing Di Maria has played down such rumors. The 26-year old, who played with Ronaldo for four seasons, said, “I don’t think he [Cristiano Ronaldo] is coming back to Manchester. It’s hard to quit Real Madrid.

“Maybe, but I think he’s having a great time and I don’t see that he wants to change.”

The Argentinian continued that he was lucky to be plying his trade for a big club like Manchester United after leaving Spanish giants Real Madrid, “Thank God I have the opportunity to be in big clubs. Things got better for me, I got better. Being in big clubs makes you get used to these things.

“That they [the Man United fans] sing my name or ‘Argentina Argentina’ fills me with pride.”

Di Maria had a brilliant start to his career in England after being his side’s best player in the opening games despite his side not doing all that well. However, his good form was halted after an injury.

In his absence, United haven’t done badly as they have managed to go unbeaten thanks to some good displays by their captain Wayne Rooney. Di Maria had some kind words for his teammate, “[Wayne] Rooney is a quality player.

“He has an amazing mindset and desire to play every game that is unmatched. He plays every game for 90 minutes.

“He’s always giving he best, fully in every game. That has surprised me. He is a player who deserves to be here.”

£59.7m Star Gives Massive Injury Boost To Manchester United Ahead Of FA Cup Clash, Others Are Still A Doubt

Manchester United could get a boost for their FA Cup third round clash against Yeovil. Angel Di Maria has resumed training following his pelvic injury and could return just in time for that clash. Di Maria who was in top form and produced some high quality performances was sidelined after picking up a knock. The £59.7m winger who moved to Old Trafford from Real Madrid in the summer has been the catalyst for re-igniting United’s diminished flare again. With the return of the Argentine international, coach Louis van Gaal would have more attacking options in midfield and be more aggressive in the FA Cup tie as well as the upcoming games in other competitions too. United travel to Yeovil on Sunday.

There is some bad news as well with regards to other injuries updates. Ashley Young who had picked up a hamstring injury against Stoke on new year’s day is set to miss action for at least two weeks. This could be a blow to Louis van Gaal’s plans, as he already has had a long list of injured players this season. Amongst the other players who are out of action, key players like Marcos Rojo, Daley Blind and Marouane Fellaini are still really doubtful to make it to the tie.

Rojo is suffering a thigh injury while Blind has a knee problem which has kept him out and Fellaini is suffering from an illness. With the performances slowly improving with every passing game, the Dutch manager would be keen on getting all his key players to full fitness if he hopes to challenge for any major trophies this season.

Manchester United provisional squad : De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Vermijl, Blackett, Shaw, Thorpe, Smalling, Evans, Jones, McNair, Rafael, Pereira, Fletcher, Herrera, Valencia, Lingard, Anderson, Carrick, Januzaj, Di Maria, Mata, Falcao, Rooney, Van Persie, Wilson, W Keane.

Manchester United Injury News

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has revealed that he isn’t sure about Angel Di Maria’s injury that happened on the eve of Christmas and resulted in him missing the game against Newcastle. Di Maria also missed the trip to White Hart Lane.

The Dutchman said, “He was injured in the last training session, he stepped out of the warm-up,” he told reporters. “It was a little bit amazing because he did everything very well. He stepped out and now we have to wait and see the analysis.”

When asked if it was something to do with the hamstring injury that the Argentinian suffered at the end of November, Van Gaal commented, “I don’t think so, I am not a doctor. Before we have a misunderstanding, we have to wait.”

He went on it add that it wasn’t a muscle injury when asked about it and hinted that it’s something to do with his pelvis,

“No, it’s not the muscle injury. It’s more that the pelvis is not in a right relationship with his leg.

“It’s more for the doctor to explain than me.”

Major Injury Boost For Manchester United As Return Date Of Angel Di Maria Is Available

Manchester United have received some good news ahead of their clash against Aston Villa as summer signing Angel Di Maria will return to action.

Di Maria has missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury suffered in the game against Hull City on 29th November, but could be in line to start the game when Louis van Gaal’s side travel to Villa Park. United have won six games on the trot, but it has masked some of the problems that they are facing in attack. They created very few chances against Southampton and Stoke City but managed to dispatch Liverpool with ease.

The Argentine international’s form has somewhat tailed off before his injury after making a terrific start to his career at Old Trafford, so he’ll want to start afresh again come Saturday. Di Maria was a chief creator for United and with the team winning without his presence, his addition will do nothing but add even more quality to the side.

After signing from Real Madrid for a record £59.7m in the summer, Di Maria has appeared in 11 games so far and has scored three goals. The former Benfica man has created a truckload of chances for his side and has six assists to his name. United’s next fixture against Villa will be a tough game as Paul Lambert’s side defend well and usually play on the counter attack. As a result, Di Maria’s creativity could be key in unlocking Villa’s defence.

His return to fitness will also be helpful in what will be a busy two weeks for United as they play four times in the next 15 days in the League. With the side looking confident, Di Maria could start enjoying his football as he’ll play without the pressure of delivering every time like he used to when United were struggling in the opening few weeks.

Manchester United Receive Major Injury Boost As Two Key Stars Return Ahead Of Liverpool Clash

Manchester United have received an injury boost in the form of defender Phil Jones as he returned to training this week. Jones suffered from a shin bone injury in his side’s draw against West Brom in October and hasn’t appeared since then.

The news will be music to the ears for the United faithful as their side have had a host of injuries especially in the defensive third. Manager Louis Van Gaal usually considers his players for games after two weeks of training which means Jones could make his first appearance in more than two months in their next home game against Newcastle United on Boxing day. The 22-year old had made four appearances before injuring himself.

Evans and Di Maria set to start

United’s next opponents are arch rivals Liverpool and once again, Van Gaal will have to go with a different defensive combination as Chris Smalling’s groin injury in his side’s win over Southampton will mean that he’ll miss the next two games. The former Fulham defender played only for 18 minutes before being substituted. United went on to win the game 2-1.

Summer signing Angel Di Maria is also in line to make his 1st appearance since the win over Hull City a few weeks back after recovering from a hamstring injury.

With Smalling’s injury, it’s likely that Van Gaal will persist with Evans and Marcos Rojo who haven’t played too many games together. Van Gaal went with a 3-5-2 formation against Southampton with Patrick McNair, Rojo and Smalling in defense. However, the injury to Smalling and McNair’s nervy start to the game prompted him to change it as he brought on Jonny Evans and Ander Herrera and put Michael Carrick in defence. He could do the same again against Liverpool as their attack has struggled this season. With Lambert, they lack the high pressing up top which could play into Carrick’s hand, who will probably play at the heart of the defence.

Good News On Injuries For Manchester United As £78.6m Duo Will Be Ready To Play Against Arsenal

di maria

Manchester United have received a huge injury boost ahead of their game against Arsenal as manager Louis Van Gaal has revealed that Angel Di Maria, David De Gea and Micheal Carrick are set to feature in the game.

Van Gaal said in a press conference “It’s difficult to say if anyone is back because we have to wait for Friday’s training session to decide if they’re back.

“But they’re not coming back in the squad – that’s a different thing. My philosophy is that you have to train at least one week with the squad, better two. But if you see our circumstances, we may be have to bring players back to the squad.

“Di Maria has trained today normally so I don’t think that is a question mark, but Shaw is. De Gea is good, no problem. I think I have to wait for the reaction in training with Carrick, but I also expect he’s ready to play.”

There were question marks on Luke Shaw’s availability after he had to be taken off in England’s 3-1 win over Scotland a few days ago. The left back was subbed in the 66th minute after complaining about a tight hamstring.

The squad is set to train on Friday before their clash against Arsenal which will tell us more on whether Shaw will be fit in time for the clash or not. United will be without Marcos Rojo who is yet to recover from his shoulder injury. Phil Jones and Rafael have not returned to training yet, which means that Van Gaal will have a big headache in setting up his defence against Arsenal. There was some positive news as Jonny Evans could return in the side’s reserve game against Blackburn on Tuesday.

Blind’s injury not as bad as thought, but he could miss a considerable amount of time

Van Gaal also confirmed that Daley Blind will not feature in the game on Saturday and could miss a few weeks due his knee injury. The club tweeted that he could miss six months of action despite Van Gaal revealing that he doesn’t think it’ll be that long, “Blind is not ready to play. He has now a brace on his knee, 10 days’ rest, then we have to make another scan and we can say more about his injury. It’s not so bad as the doctors are thinking after the match, but it shall be a long story, I believe, but not six months or something.” Falcao’s return has been further delayed as Van Gaal revealed that he has suffered from a ‘new injury’.

Manchester United Injury News – Di Maria, Shaw & More

Manchester United will have a slight cause for concern as their star player Angel Di Maria was forced to leave the pitch during Argentina’s friendly match against Portugal last night. The injury took place in the 18th minute when Man United loanee Nani stepped on the Argentinian’s right foot.

Afterwards, Di Maria revealed, “It was just a blow. I hope it doesn’t swell anymore so I can play at the weekend.”

Argentina manager Gerardo Martino reassured the fans that although the injury looked painful, it wasn’t serious, “We don’t think it’s anything serious. It was quite a tough blow he took. It was a tough knock. It cut the skin a bit.

“But we have had a look and are evaluating the situation. We are looking at some x-rays, some images we took, but in spite of that we do not think it’s too serious.”

Di Maria was replaced after an hour in the game as he wasn’t at his best and due to the injury as well. Manchester United’s next game is against Arsenal and with 10 players on the injury table already, Louis Van Gaal will hope that his £59.7m summer signing will be fit to face the Gunners.

United have struggled to find any sort of consistency this season and the injuries is part of the reason why Van Gaal has never had the chance to play his strongest line-up as frequent injuries have disrupted the availability of the full squad.

Injuries continue to pile on

In other news, left back Luke Shaw was on England duty in their 3-1 win over Scotland. However, he did not last the entire 90 minutes as he came off in the 66th minute due to a tight hamstring. With the kind of pace the 19-year old has, it’s likely that he won’t be risked against Arsenal or he could aggravate his minor injury.

“I picked up a few knocks during the game and my left hamstring, which I hurt at the start of the season, I could feel a little bit,” he told Sky Sports.

“We had a discussion at half-time over whether to bring me off then but it was a game I didn’t want to come off in so I played the extra 15 minutes and then Roy decided to sub me off.”

If both Shaw and Di Maria misses the Arsenal game, it could leave Manchester United with 12 casualties currently nursing the treatment table.

To add to van Gaal’s misery the likes of Michael Carrick, De Gea and Blind suffered injuries while on International duties and are likely to miss the weekend clash.

Di Maria Reveals Why He Joined Manchester United And Accepts He May Leave In The Future

Di Maria - Manchester United

Manchester United attacker Angel Di Maria has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain were interested in signing him, but the financial fair play rules prevented the Ligue 1 side from doing so.

PSG’s President Nasser al-Khelaifi had deemed Di Maria as too “expensive” after having signed the likes of David Luiz and Serge Aurier for big money moves. The French side have the highest wage bill in the world at €240m and could not spend further on wages as they had to sell before they could sign someone.

Di Maria told French broadcaster Telefoot that the money problem was the main reason why he couldn’t move there, “PSG, I think they had a money problem and they couldn’t buy players. This is the main reason I didn’t go there. Playing in the French league would please a lot of players.”

Open to a move in the future

The 26-year old also revealed that he could move somewhere else in the future as transfers are always unpredictable, “Now I’m in the English league. But you never know, there is a lot of movements in football. You can never predict where you’re going to play.

“There were a lot of clubs interested in me. A lot really. But Manchester United appeared and didn’t go away. They absolutely wanted me and it happened.”

At £59.7m, the Argentina international is not only the costliest signing made by Manchester United, but also by any side in the Premier League.

The former Real Madrid man was in brilliant form after joining the club and at times carried the whole team on his shoulders. However, he has gone off the boil in the last couple of games and United fans will hope that they’ll see him at his best against Arsenal in their next game. He has played nine times for the club since his move and has scored three times and provided five assists in those process.
