Chelsea Star & Arsenal Target Set For A Move To Italy

After being linked with Arsenal recently, Chelsea’s second choice goalkeeper Petr Cech is now subject to move to Serie A with AC Milan being the likely destination. The Rossoneri are being linked with the 32-year old according to the Daily Express as they want to add a quality custodian to their ranks despite the presence of Diego Lopez.

Cech was being linked with a move to Italy a few weeks ago as Roma were in for the Czech Republic international as they don’t seem to possess a quality keeper to replace the ageing Morgan De Sanctis. Cech was also linked with a move to Turkey last month as his agent has revealed, “If Cech does become available Besiktas would become a potential destination.”

Despite a strong showing last season, Cech has lost his 1st team place to Thibaut Courtois who has justified his selection. It doesn’t look like he’ll be dethroned any time soon which may well mean that Cech will have to move elsewhere to play. He has made five appearances so far this season with four of those coming in the cups. An unfortunate head injury to Courtois against Arsenal gave Cech the opportunity to make his 1st appearance in the Premier League all be it from the bench.

Since joining Chelsea from Rennes in 2004, he had established himself as the number one in goal until the current this season. He has made 482 appearances for the blues and managed to keep a record 222 clean sheets for his side. It’s highly unlikely that he’ll wait and run down his contract which expires in 2016. With the Euros coming up in a few years time, he’ll want to nail down the 1st choice position in his national team. So far, sitting on the bench for his club hasn’t put his starting position for his national team in jeopardy, but it could in the future.
