Manchester United Eye January Move For €7.5m French Starlet

Reports in France have emerged that Manchester United are eyeing a move for Monaco left back Layvin Kurzawa and are in pole position to sign him. The full back is currently nursing a thigh injury and will miss the remaining of the year. He picked up the injury in the international break two weeks ago.

Kurzawa is contracted with the club until 2018 and his market value is somewhere around €7.5m. He was linked with a move to United in March this year as then manager David Moyes wanted a replacement for Patrice Evra as he was leaving for Juventus. Back then, Kurzawa seemed really excited over a potential move and had revealed, “The club of my dreams? Manchester United.

“It is one of my goals to play there one day.”

According to Le Parisien, a few more clubs are interested in the defender as they have dispatched scouts to evaluate his performances, however, United lead the queue to sign him. Manager Louis Van Gaal has had a major problem with injuries as the likes of Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones have suffered from injuries and haven’t been able to play regularly. The Dutchman doesn’t possess the depth when it comes to the full back positions and could strengthen in January if the squad continues to be ravaged by injuries.

Kurzawa had been impressive for Monaco before getting injured. He has made 14 appearances so far in all competitions for his side and has managed to score two goals. At 22, his best years are still ahead of him and if United come with a good offer then his side will find it hard to turn down. United’s relationship with Monaco is good as they already possess Radamel Falcao at the club who is on-loan from the Ligue 1 side.
