Liverpool Go In For A £125,000-a-week Replacement For Mignolet

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers would wish the January transfer window can’t come any faster for him. As goalkeeper Simon Mignolet keeps on repeating mistakes game after game, the Reds are on the lookout for a goalkeeper who can bring the calmness under the sticks. According to reports from English Media outlet METRO the Anfield side have now set their eyes on Fiorentina’s Brazilian custodian Neto.

The 25 year old is recognized to have a huge future ahead of him and the Merseyside giants are willing to offer Neto a contract worth £125,000-a-week in order to complete his move to Anfield. Neto’s contract with the Florence based side is set to expire in the summer and there have been no talks over a possible contract extension. It is believed that Fiorentina are desperate to tie him down but with interest from elsewhere the player might leave the club.

Roma are also interested on the player but Liverpool’s offer is a much better one for the player. Should an offer come early Fiorentina might be tempted to sell their goalkeeper in January rather than lose him on a free in the coming summer. Liverpool are in dire need for a goalkeeper thanks to Mignolet;s inexplicable mistakes and with Rodgers having very less faith on back up Brad Jones, it seems like a good option.

However, there were signs that Neto could sign a contract extension at Fiorentina with reports from Italian media. Neto currently earns €650,000-per-season. But a new deal might see him earn a basic salary of €2m.
