Manchester United have received a transfer boost in the form of Juan Cuadrado as the Colombian is edging for a move come January.
According to Sport Mediase, Cuadrado could move as he wants to play in the Champions League next season. With Fiorentina struggling in the league this season, they could find it hard to qualify for the elite competition next season which could make a few players leave. Cuadrado is probably their biggest star and was linked with a move in July but stayed at the club and even signed a contract extension in October that will keep him at the club until 2019. The Viola have set a €35m release clause in his contract, a fee that Manchester United can easily afford.
Louis Van Gaal’s side are in excellent position in the league as they look to regain the Champions League spot that they lost to Liverpool last season.
Ideal fit for Manchester United
With Louis Van Gaal preferring a 3-5-2 more than any other formation, Cuadrado could be an ideal signing for the Red Devils. The 26-year old was the joint highest assist maker in the World Cup. He can be deployed as a right or left sided midfielder or a wingback. Van Gaal has usually gone with Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia at the wing back positions but both of the haven’t done enough as United’s goalkeeper David De Gea has bailed them out on multiple occasions.
Cuadrado is a more natural player to have in that role and hence could fit instantly in the United line up if signed. He has made 12 appearances in the League and five in the Europa league so far. He has impressed this season as well but Fiorentina’s injury list has cost them as they haven’t made a good progress after last season.
