Manchester United have been interested to sign Kevin Strrotman for a long time now, even before the player moved to Roma from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven. Following the appointment of Louis Van Gaal in the summer, speculations intensified over a possible transfer to Old Trafford. Strootman though suffered a long term injury and missed the World Cup for Holland but is now back to full fitness. The Red Devils haven’t given up yet on their target and it is believed that Van Gaal will look to bring the midfielder in the coming summer.
Latest reports from English media outlet DAILY EXPRESS have claimed that Chelsea are also in fact ready to bid £30m for the player. However, Roma have time and again reiterated the fact they aren’t willing to sell their prized asset for any price to potential suitors in the upcoming transfer window.
Speaking to Radio Anch’lo Lo Sport, Roma’s general director Mauro Baldissoni said: “Our club president James Pallotta has already spoken about this and he gets angry with the rumours that link Kevin to Manchester United. Our policy is that of investing in players that have quality but have room for improvement. Kevin is a young player with experience, and we want to build our future with players like him.”
Chelsea’s bid for the player looks a bit far fetched as the Blues have enough creative talent in their squad. Moreover, Jose Mourinho has also earlier hinted that Chelsea will not be signing any players in January, thus a £30m bid for Strootman is simply out of question. United though will definitely try to sign the player but will they be successful? only time shall tell.
