One of the busiest teams in transfer windows, at least in gossips section Arsenal FC are back in the news as they are eyeing Germany’s goal-keeper Loris Karius, who is the back-up for Manuel Neuer in the German National side, reported Mirror.
The FSV Mainz 05’s custodian has signed a contract with the Bundesliga club till the end of the season has attracted many clubs which includes fellow Bundesliga teams Borussia Dortmund, FC Schalke 04 and Spanish side Valencia CF apart from the Gunners. The club moving for the 21-year-old shot-stopper this month could secure a cut-price deal during the summer.
Loris Karius has publicly expressed his wish to stay at Mainz this season as he turned down a deal to play for Portugal Champions Benfica in last summer window. Having said this, Loris Karius might be tempted to move to English Premier League at the end of the season.
Loris Karius might return to English Football
Loris Karius is no stranger to English football as he was a part of Manchester City’s academy till 2011 before moving to Mainz. Arsenal are ready to wait until the summer but rival parties are looking to sign Loris Karius up on a low price this month, which may force Arsene Wenger to get the job done before the window ends.
Loris Karius’ arrival to the Emirates Stadium means, Arsenal is all set to relieve one of their three goalkeepers (Wojciech Szczesny, David Ospinia and Damien Martinez) at the end of this season with Martinez looking as the most likely candidate despite Ospinia’s regular injuries.
Apart from Loris Karius, Paris Saint Germain’s Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani, Atletico Madrid’s Spanish midfielder Mario Suarez and Everton’s Irish midfielder James McCarthy are also in Arsenal’s radar with Cavani being the likely one to come to North London.
