Manchester United who are chasing quite a few defenders in the January transfer window with a view to strengthening their side believe they can possibly pull off a deal for Germany’s Mats Hummels in the January transfer window. The German World Cup winning defender was a target of Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United right from the start of the season with a view to complete a potential move for the player. The Red Devils, who are in need of an experienced defensive leader are looking at Hummels as a possible candidate for the job. The 26 year old, who plays for German side Borussia Dortmund had also previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier Leagues soon.
The United manager Louis van Gaal is willing to spend some cash on a strong and experienced defender and Hummels fits the profile perfectly. United are currently at third place and are looking to secure a place in the top four, while Dortmund are currently in the relegation zone of the Bundesliga and battling to get out of it. Hummels has been quite happy with the club, but the fate of his club now may be a major factor which may finally decide whether he chooses to stay or leave. A source close to the Premier League side has spoken to talkSPORT and reports suggest that the German center-back is ‘pushing hard’ for a deal, as an escape route in case of any new developments.
Louis van Gaal who has big plans for the January transfer window is quite keen on bringing the German international to Old Trafford and also has other players on his list of transfer targets. The other players include long term Manchester United target and Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman and Southampton powerhouse Morgan Schneiderlin.
