As per the reports in Daily Star, Hull City Manager Steve Bruce has expressed his wish over signing Arsenal’s French striker Yaya Sanogo on loan in the ongoing transfer window. The move might be a successful one for the Tigers after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that he wants the 21-year-old striker to join a Premier League club on a short-term loan deal to gain some match experience at the highest level.
Bruce has admitted that he is monitoring Sanogo’s situation and also made it clear that the Frenchman might be available. Like most of the other Premier League clubs, Bruce has got his options on and said that he will wait for the move to take place. He also feels that the transfer might happen in the last 48 days of the transfer window.
Arsene Wenger said ahead of the press conference that after letting Lukas Podolski go to Inter Milan, he is keen on allowing Sanogo on loan to any other Premier League club. He also confirmed that he spoke to Steve Bruce and he is interested in signing Sanogo.
Sanogo, who scored his first goal for Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League against Borussia Dortmund is yet to score for the Gunners in the Premier League. Bruce is not bothered by his goal scoring spree but is impressed with his talent.
“I don’t know how many starts he’s had but he played against us in the cup final and I was very impressed with him. I saw him play for Arsenal against Dortmund in the Champions League as well. For the French under-21s he’s been nothing short of fantastic. I saw a game when they beat England and I thought he was terrific. When you take a young boy, especially a striker, it’s a question of whether they can come and do it. I took Nicklas Bendtner (on loan from Arsenal for Birmingham) when he was 18 and he won me (promotion from) the Championship. Sanogo is a very good player. I like him a lot and it may be an option for us – but I don’t think we’re alone in that one,” Bruce quoted.
