Arsenal Plot A Deal To Steal Chelsea Target Before The January Window Closes

Arsenal are currently on the verge of completing a deal, which has been on and off the cards at times this season. The move is a surprise in itself as the player was a more of a potential Chelsea target. Reports suggest that the Gunners are currently in talks with the agent of Roma striker Mattia Destro and a move to the Emirates is virtually done. Destro, who has been closely followed by the Blues for some time now, has been told by the Italian giants that he can leave Roma in January, if he wishes to and if the price for him is right. Further, reports from Italy suggest that Arsenal are pushing hard for the signature of the Italian international and his agent is flying to North London soon to discuss a deal, before Chelsea can get back into the race.

The 23-year-old could be leaving Italy very soon, with negotiations believed to have already started on this Monday. Arsenal are seriously interested in doing business in this transfer window and wish to add more quality to their side as they fight for a place in the top four this season and are also keen on retaining their FA Cup title.

Arsene Wenger wishes to build now on his side’s magnificent Premier League performance against Manchester City, as the Champions went down to a 2-0 defeat to the Gunners, at the Etihad on Sunday. Wenger wants the former Siena man who has managed to score 23 goals in 52 matches for Roma, since his arrival at the Italian capital in 2012. At the moment, Destro is valued at about £15million and both the London based clubs will be keen on acquiring his services. Nothing is certain at the moment, as deals are made and broken in a matter of seconds, as the January transfer window continues to surprise us.
