Massive Blow For Arsenal: Manchester United Set To Hijack Their Brazilian Target

Moments ago, it was reported that Arsenal manager had revealed his side’s ambitions to land Villareal’s Brazilian defender Paulista after activating his buyout clause. But in a shocking news to Wenger and Arsenal fans, the central defender might join their title rivals Manchester United. According to talksport.com, Manchester United are all set to hijack Arsenal’s defensive target before the end of this transfer window.

According to TMW, fourth placed Manchester United have made themselves available in the race to sign Paulista and might have him at Old Trafford ahead of their Premier League rivals and Arsenal, with whom they are fighting for a top 4 finish (Southampton is the other team in the fray). Paulista’s impressive performances attracted a lot of offers for him but the defender is open for a move only to England. Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal, who is also impressed by his performances has used this opportunity to sign him and reinforce his defence.

Manchester United’s defence is not a strongest one and can be vulnerable as they were in the clash against Leicester City. The likes of Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Paddy McNair, Jonny Evans and Tyler Blackett are not having a good time in the back line of Louis Van Gaal’s favourite 3-5-2 combination which has Argentine left back Marcos Rojo as its best man at the back.

The Red Devils are in need of a solid defender and there were also rumours emerging out that Manchester United might acquire the services of German International and Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels. This might not happen in the ongoing Winter Transfer Window but certainly might take place at the end of the season. So signing Paulista is a good move for the 20 time Premier League winners.

It was reported earlier that Paulista is reportedly wanted by Arsenal for around £10m as Wenger is working on several angles to solve his injury problems.
