January Transfers: Chelsea Heavily Linked With South American Duo

Chelsea have been outstanding this season up to this mark despite few poor games in between which has hurt their dreams of a quadruple, this season. Their recent elimination from the FA Cup against a League One Bradford side at Stamford Bridge was an indication that there is room for improvement and a need for more additions in the January transfer window. Now, with recent rumours linking the Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah and World Cup winner Andre Schurrle away from England, manager Jose Mourinho does feel the need to sign more midfielders this month.

According To Metro, The Blues have two South Americans on their list of hopefuls, as prime targets for now, whom they feel can add quality to their well established side. Columbian winger and World Cup sensation Juan Cuadrado has been linked with Chelsea for some time now, whereas, Brazilian born Douglas Costa is also in the news now. Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho wants them both, as he wishes to eliminate any challenge for the Premier League title and hopes to make it big in the Champions League as well.

Reports now suggest that Chelsea have increased their previous bid for the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder to £18.7million after thier previous £16million bid was rejected Costa had confirmed that he was contacted by the Premier League side. However, it is believed that Costa’s Ukrainian employers have no intention of letting their star player leave on such a cheap deal as Chelsea look to seal both transfers before the deadline day on the 2nd of February.
