Manchester United Midfielder Set For January Exit To Another Premier League Club

Reports in Daily Star suggests that West Brom manager Tony Pulis is all set to persuade Manchester United’s Scotland International Darren Fletcher to join his club’s revolution ahead of joining West Ham United. But it looks like being a straight race between West Ham and The Baggies to sign the 30-year-old Scottish international.

Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal handed Fletcher only four starts to the most experienced player in the current squad. And now, the Scot has been granted a free transfer by the club to find a new club in the January transfer window. Apart from these clubs, Scottish giants Valencia and Spanish side Valencia are interested in signing the midfielder.

Tony Pulis had earlier said that he will sign at least 4 players in the transfer window and managed to get his first signing after agreeing a deal to sign Wigan Athletic winger Callum McManaman, who had a medical at the club last night after agreeing personal terms.

Edinburgh-born Fletcher has been at the Old Trafford since he was 11 years old and made his first appearance for the Red Devils in 2003. Since then he became an integral part of the squad managed by Sir Alex Ferguson.

He fought and beat the debilitating ulcerative colitis and was named as one of the vice-captains appointed by the new boss Van Gaal. Despite that, he was not a regular for the Dutchman as he made only five starts and seven appearances as a substitute. He was a regular in the pre-season but when Daley Blind and Angel Di Maria were signed by the club, he became a reserve player.

So far in his eleven years, Fletcher has made 342 appearances for the club and has won Premier League titles, two League Cups, a FA Cup and the Champions League.
