Ten time European Champions and Spanish giants Real Madrid has completed the signing of Cruzeiro’s Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva. Silva, who impressed everyone with his style of play has attracted several offers from top European clubs in the past few months.

The clubs include Premier League giants Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are linked with the defensive midfielder who scored three goals from 84 appearances for his Brazilian league side Cruzeiro.

In a statement on Real Madrid’s official website, the signing of the Silva was revealed and the most-wanted midfielder signed a five-year contract at the Bernabeu.

“Lucas Silva (Bom Jesus de Goiás, Brazil, 16-02-1993) is a new Real Madrid player.”

The 21-year-old midfielder joins Los Blancos after he won the Brazilian League with Cruzeiro and went on to become one of the stars of the championship. He was a part of Brazilian Football Confederation’s (CBF) best playing XI. He also won the received the Silver Ball award, which was awarded by the Placar magazine to the Brazilian League’s best defensive midfielder.

His signing will see Real Madrid some youth and talent to their squad. Silva is a footballer who is capable of being the focal point of the midfield which has the likes of Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez, Luka Modric and ISco. His good ability on the ball will bring some outstanding defensive work apart from some terrific long-range passing and a fantastic shot.

Silva was presented to the fans at Bernabeu last night and was given the number 16 jersey, which was previously worn by another Brazilian Casemiro, who is currently in loan at Porto. His arrival at the Bernabeu could see either Sami Khedira or Asier Illaramendi leaving the club in the winter transfer window or during the summer transfer window.
