Good News For Liverpool Fans: Brazilian Winger Pens A New Long Term Deal

Things have been going great for Liverpool in the past few weeks with a few hiccups along the way, at times. Their newly discovered form in the Premier League has raised the hopes of the Merseyside club and manager of Brendan Rodger, who now are looking to battle it out, for a place in next year’s Champions League. With Rodgers making big plans for a bright future for the Anfield club, one boost that The Reds boss has received in his efforts to do so, is that their superstar midfielder Philippe Coutinho has committed his future to the club until 2020. The 22 year Brazilian, who made the move from Italian giants Inter Milan in an £8.5m deal two years ago in January, will be rewarded with a significant pay rise, according to the new deal. Since his move to England, the Brazilian has been outstanding for his club and has made 31 appearances so far this season and scored two goals.

Kop boss Brendan Rodgers accepts Coutinho is a highly talented player, yet expresses the need for him to add more goals to his game. Rodgers believes in the midfielder and has claimed that the youngster will soon be a world-class player in the same class of Real Madrid stars Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. In an interview, when questioned about the winger’s future, the Liverpool boss said,

“I think if you look at that type (that he compares to), that type of player you look at is Modric – he doesn’t have a big goalscoring record but he is a world class player.”

“He is a continuity player, he takes the ball in the middle of the field, he can make the passes, serving the ball from behind and he gets the odd goal from outside the box.”

“He is a top class player who can create the game and so important, opens the door for the team in the centre of midfield.”

“Toni Kroos, another of that type of wonderful footballer – great passer.”
