Replacement For Steven Gerrard Ready: Liverpool Target German World Cup Winning Mid-fielder

It has been reported by German football magazine SportBild’s Wednesday edition that the future of Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira is quite uncertain. The World Cup winning midfielder is in contract with the club which is set to expire in June and is available on a free transfer. Khedira is now looking to talk to clubs which are interested in acquiring his services and sign a pre-contract agreement, hoping to complete the move once his deal at the Bernabeu ends.

This could be a great opportunity for many European giants looking to add a high quality and expreinced midfielder. The 27 year old would be an excellent addition to any squad, when he is full form. The only problem would be that his total appearances over the last few seasons have been quite low, largely due to injury.

SportBild further say that Premier League giants Liverpool are looking at the German international as a potential replacement for skipper Steven Gerrard, who is set to leave the club and join MLS side LA Galaxy at the end of the season. It would be a gamble, though SportBild suggest that, Liverpool and several clubs are still considering it. The Spanish media had earlier suggested that Khedira could possibly move to Bayern Munich but SportBild thinks that if the midfield superstar does return to the Bundesliga, Schalke would be the club.
