David De Gea is yet to sign a new long term contract with Manchester United and the club are desperate to make the Spaniard commit his future with them. However, the Spanish international has been heavily linked with European Champions Real Madrid and could be set to leave the Red Devils, in the near future. The former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, who was signed for £18m in 2011, has only a period of 16 months left on his current contract at Old Trafford and is considered a world class goalkeeper. Madrid based newspaper AS recently reported that De Gea’s relationship with his manager Louis van Gaal has broken down, as well.
AS reporter Manu Sainz has claimed that the Dutch manager and his number one goalkeeper have not spoken for months, which could be due to the laters refusal to sign a new whopping €10m a year deal, offered to him by the Manchester side. SportWitness have shown this story has been highlighted in the AS print edition. Real consider the 24 year old as a long term replacement for Iker Casillas, who’s contract at the Bernabeu expires in 2017.
