The news is Arsenal chiefs will hand manager Arsene Wenger, a sum of £50m in this summer as they look to make progress in the Champions League, after a horrific performance by the Gunners against Monaco on Wednesday. The Gunners are at the moment on the verge of being eliminated from this season’s competition, following their 3-1 home defeat to the French side. The Emirates hierarchy are hoping for a huge improvement from the French manager next season and the Daily Telegraph has confirmed this.
Arsenal already has spent a lot of money on a lot of attacking and midfield reinforcements and this sum is highly unlikely to be enough to challenge big-spenders Chelsea, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. Arsenal are hoping to sign Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin at the end of the season, having failed to sign the French midfielder last summer and Wenger will look to fill plenty of gaps with the hopes of being serious contenders, domestically, as well as in Europe.
