Thierry Henry Has Ideas For Arsenal’s Summer Transfer Plans To Challenge For Titles Next Season

Former French striker and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry feels that Arsene Wenger’s side will not win the Premier League with just Olivier Giroud up front next season. Henry, a Sky Sports pundit now, spoke after watching the Gunners big clash against Chelsea which ended in a 0-0 draw and ended the Gunners’ hopes of winning the Premier League title this season. Jose Mourinho’s side played for a draw at the Emirates and came away with a point, maintaining their ten point lead at the top of the table.

Arsenal did not create too many great chances to score despite some decent passing and possession. Henry suggested that big money needs to be spent in the summer transfer window and Anthony Hay of the Mail Online reported him as saying,

“I think they need to buy four players—they need that spine. They need a goalkeeper, they still need a centre back, they still need a holding midfielder and, I’m afraid, they need a top, top quality striker to win this league again.”

“You had the best example with Chelsea here today. They were struggling last season to win the league. They went on to buy [Thibaut]Cortouis, [Nemanja] Matic, Cesc [Fabregas] and [Diego] Costa. For me, that speaks volumes and you saw it today—a team didn’t and a team did, and they are about to win the league again.”

On Giroud, the Frenchman further added,

“I think Giroud is doing extremely well. But can you win the league with him? I wouldn’t think so. He does a job, and he does it ever so well, but you can’t win the league.”
