Liverpool are now set to make an ambitious summer bid for Belgian international Christian Benteke, according to recent reports. The superstar striker has been superb since joining Aston Villa in 2012 from Genk and has made a total of 88 appearances for the club, scoring 42 times.
Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is in need more attacking options after Liverpool’s strike force has failed miserably this season. Stars like Mario Balotelli and Ricky Lambert have failed to make any sort of impression since moving to Anfield.
Apart from that, England international Daniel Sturridge has also been out with injury problems for most of the season. The Reds are in need of at least one new forward this summer with Benteke is being considered as the perfect choice.
The Mirror further stated that the Premier League outfit will offer Villa, their flop striker Lambert and plus some cash to land the £30m-rated Benteke. If a deal does indeed go through, he could be a really good signing for the Merseyside club.
