If you had used a over the weekend to back Spurs you will be a relieved punter as they managed to come back from 1 – 0 down to beat Burnley at White Hart Lane. The winner came via controversial circumstance by Tottenham fans will not mind that as they are now only a single point behind North London rivals Arsenal who sits in the fourth spot.

Burnley fans will be very disappointed they did not get anything from the game after going in front and what will anger them is the circumstance in which it was scored. The winning goal may have been scored by Danny Rose but it was Moussa Sissoko that made the assist after only minutes earlier making a challenge he should have been sent off for. The 30 million pounds player came on as a substitute and within minutes of his arrival, he smashed into Stephen Ward with a late high tackle that he should have seen red for but escaped with a yellow card. Within the next play, Sissoko who should not have been on the pitch supplied the ball through for Rose to took it away at the near post.

Tottenham started the game slowly and was punished by Burnley for failing to clear their goal line and allowed Ashley Barnes in to poke home the opener. Spurs should have been in the lead earlier but Dele Alli struck the post and not the goal. The player managed to redeem himself though as he managed to get the equalizer through a Kyle Walker assist.

Spurs dominated the match but were unable to break down a resilient Burnley until the introduction of Sissoko. After the controversial incident, the match was turned on its head and Burnley manager Dyche was furious with the decision that cost his team the chance of taking a valuable away point. Sissoko will not face any disciplinary action for the incident due to the incident been seen by the referee who took action.

Tottenham was seeing a lot of success down the wings and both Walker along with Rose played extremely well. In the second half, the wing backs spend most of it camped in the Burnley half. Walker assisted Dele Alli goal and Rose scored the winner that won Spurs the game. They caused Burnley problems for the whole 90 minutes and the tactic shift of allowing both fullbacks to push forward at the same time seems to be playing off for Mauricio Pochettino team this campaign.

The result closes the gap between Spurs and fierce North London rivals Arsenal to a single point after the Gunner lost to Manchester City on Sunday. Wenger’s team have dropped six-point this week after leading both matches which has serious dented their chances of winning the EPL. With just a single point separating the two teams, Arsenal can not afford any more slip-ups or they could be fighting for a top four place and not the title.
